United States Institute of Peace experts brief KRG on work in Kurdistan
Washington, DC, USA (us.gov.krd) – Experts from the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) briefed KRG Representative Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman on their projects in Kurdistan and their cooperation with the Kurdistan Regional Government. Sarhang Hamasaeed, Mike Yaffe, and Matt Ciesielski shared views with the Representative on a range of topics related to post-ISIS governance and the reconciliation process. USIP has played a central role in peace-building initiatives around the world, including in Iraq.
Representative Abdul Rahman reaffirmed the KRG’s commitments for peace, justice, and reconciliation, particularly in the Kurdistan areas outside of the Kurdistan Region and in the territory recently liberated from ISIS. She commended the ongoing work that USIP does in Kurdistan.
